Like everything, Social Media certainly has its critics and when another security breech hits the headlines in the main stream media, it can leave both businesses and personal users wondering….“Is it really worth it?”
It will hardly come as a surprise that we love social media here at HSL Social and used in the right way we know it can have tremendous benefits to everyone. As an individual as well as businesses and communities, everyone can reap the benefits of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the like.
For example….Today, here at HSL Social, we will be joining thousands of other like-minded people across the world to celebrate ‘Global Outreach Day’.
Now in its 9th year, Global Outreach Day has surged in popularity thanks to Social Media. It has worked tirelessly to bring people from around the world together and unite them in one cause and Social Media has been a key tool in its organisation and to help participants spread the good news.
By using Social Media the organisers of Global Outreach Day have been able to connect groups of people who previously just would not have been able to communicate. It has made organising the participants a breeze and of course, marketing the event to potential contributors has been a pleasure and we as participants have been able to tap into that wave and spread the word to our own network….meaning as a collective we can reach millions and millions of people around the world and in return they can reach out to us too.
Another event that everyone can get involved in is ‘Positive Media Day’ on the 22nd June. A day designed to flood the internet with positive stories and uplifting narrative.
Of course, as businesses we should always be striving to share content to make our audience feel good or enlightened, so let’s use these events to springboard a change.
Share these dates with your own followers, encourage them to block, unfollow and report instances of untruths, intolerance and aggression and let’s start the movement to bring Social Media back to where it all started.
Connecting with people!
You don’t have to like everyone!! But the world is a big place, you might have to widen your net to find ‘your people’, they may not live in your town or even your country, but they are out there, go and find them, connect, expand your network, learn from others, enrich peoples on line (and real world!!) lives with your own story. With positive messages and notions of wellbeing. Find the people and brands you want to work with and who share your vision.
Using the media for good is not new, but unfortunately, as we all know, positive news often doesn’t ‘sell’ so it just doesn’t make the editorial cut, but in the age of digital technology where anyone can spread their own good news, it is our responsibility as content creators to spread positivity with the content we create and share. Something that is in the absolute forefront here at HSL Social.
